About Kokopelli

We are seven adults who have varying backgrounds in our professional and musical lives. We are all part of the flute section of our local community band, the Timberlane Community Band (TCB), and together, we have found a wonderful outlet for our music and a very special friendship.

Carol Boudreau

plays Piccolo, Concert and Bass Flutes, and is the default director of Kokopelli. She's been playing flute for over thirty years, starting in elementary school, and performed in every musical group her schools had to offer. Her most influential teacher was Doris Roganti (Cincinnati Symphony), with whom she studied for many years. The TCB and Kokopelli are very important parts of her musical and social lives; after teaching private flute lessons during the day, she really enjoys the musical interaction of playing in a group.

Sue Miner

our Alto player, played through junior high and high school in the Concert, Symphonic and Marching Bands. She has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an MBA and is a sales manager for an industrial pneumatics company. About eight years ago she started playing flute with the TCBand and shortly after, started playing with the flute group that eventually became Kokopelli. She plays with the groups to "keep her sanity in this crazy world".

Beth Clark

is a multi-talented musician. She plays Bass and Concert Flutes, and has been known to pick up a Piccolo when it can't be helped! By trade, she is the controller for a Massachusetts hospital, but her musical training began in first grade when she started playing piano. In high school, she taught herself to play flute over one summer and has kept at it ever since. She has since studied with Terry D'Errico, and joined the TCB and the Flute Group. She is part of a very musical family, and her knowledge and background are important assets to the group.

Laura Carlsen

plays Concert Flute for Kokopelli. She started playing flute in fifth grade and continued through high school where she played in the Concert Band, Orchestra, and Marching band. She started playing with the TCB and the Flute Group about eight years ago and enjoys working on new musical challenges. She makes her living as a free-lance computer graphic artist and her wide-ranging artistic abilities are greatly valued by everyone in the group.

Lisa Shore

plays both Concert Flute and Bass Flute in our group. She started playing flute in elementary school and continued throught her sophomore year in high school. When her daughter decided to play flute, Lisa figured it was a perfect opportunity to start up again, and took some lessons with Terry D'Errico. Lisa is a social worker for the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, and even with her busy life, her family encouraged her to become involved with the Timberlane Community Band a few years ago.

Dorothy Graaskamp

is one of our latest Kokopelli members. By day, a middle school geography teacher, she undergoes a musical transformation when she picks up her flute! Dorothy is also a very talented watercolor artist who specializes in painting birds. We've all had a lot of fun since Dorothy brought her music and her keen sense of humor to the mix.

Debra Collins

is our newest member. Deb started playing the piano back in kindergarten, and in seventh grade decided she wanted to play the flute, too. A few years ago she joined the Timberlane Community Band and started taking lessons with Carol. We finally convinced her to share her talents with Kokopelli! Deb makes her living as a high school chemistry teacher, but we think music is her "element".
